A 30-YEAR RETROSPECTIVE OF JOHN ISAAC: The Odyssey of a Photojournalist.

The works of celebrated photojournalist and veteran documentary photographer, New York-based John Isaac, will be shown in Singapore for the first time. After a 30-year career in the Photo Unit of the UN, from which he retired as Photo Chief, John Isaac has turned the focus of his lens from documenting wars, famines and natural calamities, to more aesthetic subjects. In this Retrospective, Singapore viewers will be treated to images of people, landscapes, wildlife, and children. In the last three years, Isaac has made several extended visits to Kashmir and captured the scenic valley and its majestic mountains, its lands and its people. This exhibition includes selected images from his travels there.

The devastation wrought by the earthquakes in Kashmir this past October has been tragic, and in a gesture for his friends in Kashmir, Isaac has donated 10 images for auction at the opening reception, the proceeds from which will be donated to the Kashmir earthquake relief efforts in India. In addition, all guests to the opening ceremony are encouraged to make a voluntary donation of S$100 towards this fund. A form is attached for this donation, which may be made in advance or at the reception.

Come take a walk through this photojournalist’s odyssey.
