India Club welcomes JY Pillay, one of the makers of modern Singapore

The India Club, Singapore is delighted to present the first talk in “The Indian Makers of Modern Singapore” series, featuring the redoubtable Joe Yubaraj Pillay, founding-chairman of Singapore Airlines (1972-96), former PermSec of the ministries of Finance, Defence, and National Development, former MD of both MAS and GIC (1985-89, steering Singapore past the severe financial crisis of 1985), Chairman, Temasek Holdings (1974-86), Chairman, DBS Bank (1979-84), High Commissioner to Britain & Ambassador to Ireland (1996-99), Chairman of SGX (1999-2011) and currently Chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers (which makes him Singapore’s acting President when the President is away). His incredible record speaks for itself, and we are privileged to hear from Singapore’s pre-eminent civil servant and entrepreneur.
