The India Club, Singapore is delighted to welcome

Shri Vinod Rai, former Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) of India, and current chairman of the UN Panel of External Auditors.

Mr Rai will deliver a talk on “The Imperative of Ethical Governance for the sustainable economic development of India", followed by a free-wheeling Q&A session.

Venue : Raffles room, Tanglin Club
Date : Sunday, 11th May 2014
Time : 6:30pm
Entry : $30 for non-members; free for members.

Shri Vinod Rai was CAG of India from January 2008 to May 2013. His integrity and indomitable investigative skills helped uphold the Constitution at a critical juncture in India’s history, and demonstrated the resilience of India’s institutions even in the face of political corruption. As CAG, he investigated three major corruption scandals – CWG (Commonwealth Games 2010), 2G Telecom Spectrum allocation, and “Coalgate” – and his office helped both save the exchequer billions of dollars, and remedy some of the ills that had crept into India’s political and governance structure over time.
Before becoming CAG, Shri Vinod Rai had a distinguished career in the Kerala cadre of the IAS, and at the Centre. He served as Principal Secretary (Finance) to the Kerala government, and served in senior positions in the union ministries of Commerce and Defence, before serving as Secretary, Financial Services, GoI. In the latter role, he was instrumental in founding the India Infrastructure Finance Co.

Best regards
The Committee
